10 More Minutes

Classical pianist Jeeyoon Kim delights audience with her sensitive artistry, colorful musical expression and insightful commentary from the stage. She is making her Carnegie debut this December, playing selected pieces from her latest “10 More Minutes” album, a crowd-funded project that celebrates encore pieces heard at concert halls around the world.

A native of South Korea, Kim has made her way across the globe with performances at venues that include FortePiano Salon Live Series, live broadcasting on classical music channel in Chicago, WFMT, 98.7, Nichols Hall in Evanston, Graves Recital Hall in Columbus, Ohio, Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indianapolis,  at the Mozarteum Festival in Salzburg, Austria among may others. Other recent performances include "Arts in August" concert series in Evansville, Indiana, Stradivari Society in Chicago, Parisian Salon Concert Series in Chicago and San Diego Symphony Chamber Music Series, collaborating with other musicians such as violinist Philippe Quint and cellist Johannes Moser.

She made her debut as a concert artist at age 18, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto no. 2 with the Camerata Orchestra in Busan, Korea. She was awarded a full scholarship to study at Busan National University, where she graduated in 2002 with top honors. Kim received a Master of Music degree in 2005 and a Doctor of Music in piano performance in 2009, both from Indiana University with a full scholarship and graduated with distinction. Subsequently, she received a Master of Music in piano pedagogy from Butler University with a full scholarship.

As a recording artist, she released her debut CD in 2007, an album of works by Mozart, Debussy, and Liszt. She recorded her second album, "10 More Minutes,” a collection of popular encore pieces by concert pianists around the world, which is scheduled to be released in December 2016.  She received $30,000 from a month-long crowd-funding campaign on kickstarter.com.
