ABOUT IGUDESMAN & JOO
Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo are two classical musicians who have taken the world by storm with their unique and hilarious theatrical shows, which combine comedy with classical music and popular culture. With over 30 million hits on their YouTube channel to date, worldwide fan base and unlimited amount of energy for every show, the duo have collaborated with many of the world’s top orchestras and soloists, performing in front of sold-out crowds from classical concert halls to stadiums in front of crowds of 18,000.
Individually, Aleksey Igudesman has worked with musicians ranging from Academy® Award-winning Hollywood composer, Hans Zimmer, to multi Grammy® Award-winning vocalist, Bobby McFerrin. Hyung-ki Joo, has worked with Academy® Award-winning composer, Vangelis, and was chosen by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Billy Joel, to arrange and record Joel’s classical compositions on a CD, which reached no.1 on the Billboard Charts. Igudesman & Joo can be seen in several films, including their own “Mockumentary:" Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Classical Music.
Besides touring A Little Nightmare Music, they also perform BIG Nightmare Music with symphony orchestras, and lead their workshop “8 To 88 - Musical Education for Children of All Ages” at universities and music schools around the world, leaving students inspired and confident to break new grounds for their own musical journeys. Their latest creation - And Now Mozart - debuted in Vienna in 2012 and is available for booking in limited markets.
The virtuosic duo have been performing on a 20-city tour throughout 2012 that included debuts at Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, the Chicago Symphony and the Kennedy Center. They will perform with the New York Philharmonic at the Lincoln Center on New Years Eve later this year. Watch the promo reel here
Hyung-Ki is a Steinway Artist. Aleksey plays with a bow made by the Boston-based bowmaker, Benoit Roland and on a Santo Seraphin violin from the year 1717, which is kindly loaned to him by ERSTE BANK.
